The Governor Development Team at Peterborough City Council are looking for Governance Professionals to support the work of governors and leaders in schools across the Peterborough.
 
Formerly known as Clerks to the Governors, the role of Governance Professional is to prepare for, attend and minute governors meetings, in addition to delivering a full administrative and advice service to Governing Bodies in schools across the area. 
 
The role is well suited to someone looking for flexible work around existing commitments or a part time role, which offers full training, an induction programme and mentor, as well as ongoing development opportunities at termly briefing and networking sessions with other Governance Professionals. 
 
Ideally, the successful applicants will bring experience of administration, being well organised and able to manage your own workload and deadlines. 

Previous experience of schools governance in an administrative capacity is highly desirable as is experience of conducting a range of compliance related processes in terms of investigations and hearings. 
 
Meetings are ordinarily late afternoon and evening, with the remainder of work undertaken from a home base. The City Council will provide suitable IT equipment to carry out the roles. 
 
Peterborough City Council places the highest priority on safeguarding. An enhanced DBS check will therefore be required, prior to confirmation of any appointment. 

Appointments are made on the basis of a zero hours contract with the bulk of work being offered on a yearly basis, this will consist primarily of supporting both governing body meetings and committees. Additional hours may be offered as and when the need arises. 

As Governance Professionals you will benefit from a full package of professional induction and ongoing training to support you in your development which can lead to a variety of other professional opportunities in the sector. 

In addition to fulfilling their duties to our school governors, Governance Professionals are expected to act more widely as ambassadors for Peterborough City Council Governor Services modelling the values of the local authority and promoting its services.
