Peterborough Youth Justice Team are excited to be recruiting for a Senior Youth Justice Officer to join the wider Targeted Youth Support Service. Rated ‘Good’ with ‘Outstanding Features’ in 2020 HMIP Inspection, the Team are looking for candidates with strong experience of engaging children and young people who have complex needs.
The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate excellent knowledge of current legislation and procedures relating to Youth Justice and Children’s Services. They will have a safeguarding awareness that extends to knowledge of risks outside the home (contextual safeguarding). They will be able to demonstrate knowledge of effective practice in working with this vulnerable group of young people and the ability to respond to the diversity needs of service users.
The post holder will have substantial experience of working with young people and their families completing comprehensive assessments and working in a multi-agency environment. They will have the ability to work flexibly and creatively. They will be qualified in a relevant field to degree level. This post is also eligible to access a nine-day working fortnight.
In addition to managing a caseload of children with more complex needs and who present a high concern in terms of potential harm to others, the role will require the post holder to manage some staff and complete some management tasks to develop and support the wider team.
