Further Information
It is an exciting time to work at Peterborough City Council. With a new Chief Executive and a new Executive Director, we are taking a fresh look at what we do, and how we do it. We are gearing up to start work on a brand-new Local Plan, and there has never been a better time to join us, as you will have the opportunity to shape the future, from the very start of the process.

We are seeking a Principal Engineer to join our Highway Development team to work closely with our colleagues in Planning on the infrastructure side of strategic planning applications from the project concept right through to delivery on site in the form of section 278 and section 38 road adoption agreements, so the work is always varied, and you will have the opportunity to be involved in the whole lifecycle of the development.

We need a Senior level Engineer or Transport Planner with experience in the planning process who will be able to support the team and offer expert advice to planners and developers alike, in a fast-paced growth city.

If you would like to know more, please do get in touch and we can tell you about the exciting and varied work the team does and informal discussions with the team manager can be arranged by contacting; hdteam@peterborough.gov.uk.

Peterborough City Council recognises the need to develop flexible working practices and enable employees to maximise their performance and productivity whilst maintaining a good work life balance. This role is suitable for a hybrid model working but work dictates this there will be a requirement to offer support to the team and attend site visits.

We are proud to serve the diverse communities of Cambridgeshire/Peterborough and want our workforce to reflect this diversity, which we believe is beneficial for our employees, the organisation and the communities we serve.
