This role involves investigating and taking appropriate action against alleged breaches of planning control to maintain public confidence in the town planning system. It will involve monitoring planning decisions to ensure they have been implemented properly, investigating allegations that construction work has taken place or that changes of use of premises have occurred without the benefit of planning permission.

This role offers the opportunity to start a career in planning compliance/enforcement. Training in town planning legislation and enforcement processes will be provided to the successful candidate. When in the post, the successful completion of a certificate in planning enforcement or proven experience in the role will lead to career progression. Please refer to the Job Description for career progression criteria.
Ideally, we are looking for someone with some previous experience in a town planning, quasi-judicial or regulatory environment involving carrying out investigations and gathering evidence to ensure that legislation / regulations are met. This may be in a non-town planning related field such as the police or insurance. Also, an interest in town planning or the development industry would be an advantage.

Peterborough is a unique combination of a New Town with a historic medieval core that has ambitious plans for the future. It is currently experiencing considerable investment in the city centre, including the opening of the University campus, along with the growth of new urban extensions on the edge of the city. Plans to revitalise the train station quarter will offer a positive welcome for every visitor.

Located on the A1 and the East Coast Main Line, we are in a highly accessible location that makes us an attractive location for new business and homes. An enviable parkway and cycleway network mean you can get around the city in next to no time. We wear our green credentials proudly and are committed to projects to ensure that Peterborough becomes the UK’s Environment Capital.

Our friendly team are based in smart new offices at Fletton Quays but we can accommodate a high level of remote working due to a paperless, agile working framework. The successful candidate will benefit from a flexible working practice, subsidised car parking, car lease and cycle to work schemes, options to purchase extra annual leave, staff discounts and subsidised gym membership as well as a generous local government pension.

We will accept a CV or job application form - please state if you are applying for part time or full time post.
