The Targeted Youth Support Service (TYSS) is an innovative service focused on offering a range of specialist services to young people aged 13-18 and their families who are in need of additional support. Our teams include NEET, Community & Interventions, Youth & Family and Youth Offending.

During the recent HMIP Inspection, Peterborough Youth Offending Team were rated overall Good with areas of Outstanding with the report referring to our “skilled and experienced group of operational staff who are committed to delivering high-quality services”. The inspectorate team described “a powerful sense of purpose within the team and an impressive balance....between the sometimes conflicting demands of meeting children’s needs and managing the risk of harm to others that can result from negative behaviours.” This excellent outcome is testament to the dedication and commitment to young people by the team who continue to set high standards and work to further develop existing areas of practice.

The Youth Offending Service is a multi-disciplinary team delivering services to prevent
and reduce offending behaviour amongst young people. A vacancy is available for a highly experienced practitioner who is able to work with a wide range of young people who enter the criminal justice system. Extensive experience is necessary of working with young people and their families, completing comprehensive assessments, and working in a multiagency environment.

The position is within a very challenging but rewarding area, working with young offenders ranging from those who have just reached the court system through to those in the secure estate. The successful candidate will manage a caseload of community and custodial sentences ensuring effective assessment, intervention planning, review and risk management. To divert young people from offending effectively, the post-holder will be working with a range of other team members whose roles include parenting, substance misuse, psychology, accommodation, victims, education, training and employment.

We are seeking a qualified Social Worker with a range of experience including working with young people within the criminal justice system, who is passionate and committed to providing specialist support to young people and their families.
