Further Information
Are you experienced in working with children either in education or social care and are looking for an opportunity to extend your expertise and skills? Would you value experience of working with the Virtual School Team to promote the educational outcomes of children with a social worker?

We are looking for a full time strategic lead to support the Head of the Virtual School in the fulfilment of the new requirements in relation to young people identified as a Child in Need or Child Protection.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the new guidance for promoting the education of children with a social worker is implemented as a Peterborough wide strategy in order to improve educational outcomes for vulnerable children and young people. This will mean being the Council’s expert on delivering this duty and working with a variety of departments across the children’s services department to deliver a range of interventions. Work will centre on partnership working, evaluating existing practice, using relevant legislation, statutory regulations and guidance as well as research evidence and best practice models in order to enact the duties.

The role will make a major contribution to the delivery of the vision and the strategic priorities for our vulnerable and at risk children so that Peterborough City Council develops a cohesive approach to meeting the educational needs of children with a social worker.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated team of diverse professionals who are committed to improving education outcomes for children in care and children previously in care. This position is available as an internal secondment or fixed term post for 12 months.

Interviews will take place on 25th January.

We are proud to serve the diverse communities of Peterborough and want our workforce to reflect this diversity, which we believe is beneficial for our employees, the organisation and the communities we serve.
