Further Information
A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to fill the role of Head of Family Safeguarding working across Peterborough and Cambridgeshire Children's Services. This innovative model of practice, now being rolled out across the country as part of the Government's Strengthening Families Protecting Children programme, was implemented in PCC in 2017 and CCC in 2020. As Head of Service working across both Councils, you will have the opportunity to develop the already successful service at scale and ensure that we are in the best position to support children and families emerging from the pandemic as possible.

Peterborough has a Good Ofsted rating, and has recently experienced a Focused Visit from Ofsted, describing us as "a conscientious corporate parent" and one that has "a clear and consistent approach to permanency", enhanced by our strong use of PLO. Cambridgeshire's Family Safeguarding has been recently evaluated by the What Works Centre, demonstrating real change and support of the workforce along with ensuring outcomes for children and their families - we have already seen some 60% reduction in our CIC numbers in these teams since December 2019.

There is more to do in both areas, but you will be supported by a stable and innovative senior management team and given the tools to do the job well. There are positive opportunities for career development across the Councils, and we are committed to promoting strong values of inclusion in both practice and the workforce.

If you have significant operational experience, great people management skills, and a genuine passion for improving outcomes for children, we would love to hear from you.

We are proud to serve the diverse communities of Cambridgeshire/Peterborough and want our workforce to reflect this diversity, which we believe is beneficial for our employees, the organisation and the communities we serve.
