Further Information
We have some great opportunities at City College Peterborough for sessional tutors to work within our community learning area, part of our very successful Adult Education team.
For this role, you do not necessarily have to be a qualified tutor but you do need to have experience in and passion for the subject you are delivering and have a good level of English and maths. As part of the role, if you don’t already have a teaching qualification, the College will support you to achieve one.
We are primarily looking for people that have skills in the subjects above but you are also very welcome to apply if you don’t offer these but have another specialism that you think people would enjoy learning.
Hours are variable, to be agreed with each tutor and occasional weekend work may be required.
As a tutor, you will design engaging and motivating lessons to support learners aged 19+ from diverse backgrounds and a range of abilities, enabling them to engage with learning, some for the first time for many years. You will inspire your learners through practical and relevant learning to support them to build their confidence, develop their skills, improve their overall wellbeing and move on to further learning, volunteering or employment.
Most courses are delivered in the heart of Peterborough’s communities, including schools, community centres and places of worship.
As part of your role, you will monitor, support and record learners’ starting points, progress and achievement and contribute to the continued development of the department.
All appointments are subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks, including a satisfactory enhanced criminal records with Barred List check through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
