Further Information
We are looking for a committed, self-motivated, skilled communicator to join our Home Service Delivery Team, to work within the Housing Programmes Team delivering a wide range of services to ensure the most vulnerable residents in the city are living as independently as possible in a safe, warm, healthy and secure home environment

You must be an excellent communicator, able to build effective relationships with colleagues across a whole range of statutory and voluntary organisations. You must be able to utilise personal skills to be able to break down barriers that prevent clients engaging with services, particularly in relationship to housing disrepair, self-neglect of the home environment and to vulnerable residents displaying hoarding behaviours. We need a person who is empathetic, understanding and non-judgemental and who is able to build trust and confidence with people living in difficult circumstances. You must be prepared to visit clients within their homes, which could be seriously hoarded or environmentally unhygienic and neglected.

You need to be responsive and use initiative and imagination to respond quickly to urgent requests, particularly around hospital discharges to assist in preventing unnecessary discharge delays because of poor property condition or unsuitability of accommodation.

The postholder also needs to be an effective project manager and be able to work with colleagues in Council teams, external organisation and residents on projects aiming to improve the energy efficiency of homes and to take households out of fuel poverty. This will include implementation and promotion of initiatives highlighting the health risks associated with living in a cold home as well as energy efficiency advice.

You must also have a good knowledge of welfare benefits and be able to examine and interpret personal and financial information of clients applying for grant assistance and validate means test calculations.

If you require any further information about this post, please contact Sharon Malia, Team Manager - Housing Programmes on Tel: 01733 863764

We are proud to serve the diverse communities of Peterborough, and want our workforce to reflect this diversity, which we believe is beneficial for our employees, the organisation, and the communities we serve.

Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
