Further Information
A unique opportunity has arisen to join our adult social care senior leadership team, working across both Cambridgeshire County Council and Peterborough City Council.

We have a joint management team working across both Councils with a shared vision and set of priorities. As the Assistant Director for Adult Safeguarding, Quality and Practice you will be at the forefront of innovation, development and implementation of strategies, which help ensure over half a million local residents receive exceptional support and quality outcomes.

This role will report directly to the DASS, providing strategic leadership and direction on Safeguarding, Quality and Practice, Customer Services, Carers and Care Home Support. Our fantastic Principal Social Worker will report directly to you, allowing you to have strategic oversight of our continuous developmental strategies of our front-line practice.

Working across a county council and city unitary you will have the opportunity to improve outcomes across a diverse population from rural communities, 2 major cities and their suburbs. Our ‘Adults Positive Challenge’ programme is transforming our services through ‘Changing the Conversation’ to include progressive solutions such as tech enabled care, improved support for carers and an unrelenting focus on supporting people to maintain their independence.

We have learnt a lot through the pandemic, and we think we can go further in our transformation process - this role will be crucial to achieving that. This includes developing a place-based approach to delivery with our partners in the NHS and other key partners and this is key strand of the development of the ICS.

We are looking for someone who is ambitious, keen to drive change and who has the skills to work in a collaborative way, implementing solutions with our front-line staff and partners. You will need to be passionate about developing practice that delivers improved quality and outcomes and safeguards adults from abuse and neglect.

If you are keen to influence, inspire and enthuse others, challenge the norm and achieve the best outcomes for our residents, we want to hear from you.

In return we offer a suite of benefits including generous annual leave allowance, a relocation scheme, good professional development opportunities, coaching and a supportive forward thinking working environment. You will be encouraged to work in a flexible way from home as well as from a number of locations across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

Want to find out more? Then why not speak to our DASS, Charlotte Black, for an informal conversation about this opportunity, please contact Lorraine.Burton@cambridgeshire.gov.uk or call 07966151337 to arrange a convenient time.

Candidates will need to be available for an initial panel interview on Monday 21 June and a formal interview on Wednesday 23 June. You will have an opportunity to meet potential team members, peers and partners as part of the process.
