Our Safeguarding Quality Assurance service is highly respected within the Council and our OFSTED report 2018 states “Quality assurance approaches are a strength and play a pivotal role in improving front-line practice and encouraging reflective learning.”
Our Independent Chairs undertake a dual role, so you would be fulfilling all of the responsibilities of the Independent Chair for Child Protection Conferences and the Independent Review Officer for Children in Care, as well as providing child protection advice and consultation to key multiagency partners. In addition, you would have the opportunity to chair Secure Review Panels, Disruption Meetings, and be involved in other relevant service improvement activities.
You will have a critical and central role in improving the lives of children in ensuring their views are heard, fully considered and have influence in the decisions and plans for their future. You are expected to be the driving force for ensuring Child Protection Plans and Children in Care Plans are evidence based, child focused, aspirational and achieved within the Child’s timeframe.
You will have a broad range of experience and proven skills across children’s services, enabling you to respond to the safeguarding needs of children at risk, and in care using effective critical analysis, drawing on a sound knowledge base and using effective communication with different audiences.
You will be expected to contribute to the overall delivery of services and continuous improvement of Children’s Services within an equalities framework, and to ensure the highest possible standards of practice are adhered to.
You will be a Social Work England registered Social Worker; with management experience and passionate about achieving best outcomes for children and young people.
